terrace

a cafe chair for anywhere

The Terrace Café Chair reflects the sweeping forms of the classic bentwood bistro chair through its subtly angled
steel framework, blending tradition with modern 21st-century manufacturing.

Every aspect of its design and manufacture has been guided by a commitment to circular design principles.

It is designed from standard stock sizes and fixings. Therefore, parts can be repaired and replaced, increasing the
overall product lifespan. Additionally, as it is designed to be disassembled, the chair is 93.06% recyclable at the end of
its life (including replacements across multiple product life cycles).

Ultimately, this chair is designed to be a modern café chair with a modern stance on sustainability, with the aim of
being a strong addition to the world of mass-manufacturable circular design.

Self-produced.

The Terrace Chair prototype was manufactured using stock-size tubular steel for the framework and a solid ash seat.

The steel frame is powder-coated for durability and a high-quality finish, while the ash seat is treated with Rubio Monocoat Red Velvet wood oil to enhance and protect the natural timber.

The feet and stacking buffers are made from standard plastic components, and the chair is assembled using
aluminium bolts, allowing for durability, ease of maintenance, and straightforward replacement of individual parts if required.
